My camel for this epic journey is Sir Humphrey Bikelby, a KTM 990 Adventure. He is named after Sir Humphrey Appleby GCB, KBE, MVO, MA (oxon), the loquacious humble civil servant from Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister played by late great Nigel Hawthorn. As you can see from the pictures they are near indistinguishable!
Sir Humphrey needed a few modifications to make him suitable for a big trip: |
Extra large long range tanks for tough going stints in the wilds. |
Extra large crash bars to protect the extra large long range tanks in case of whoopsies. |
||
Extra large touring windscreen to keep bugs and weather off me. |
Polycarbonate headlight protector to stop stones doing too much damage. |
||
Heated grips to keep my little pinkies warm. |
Top box to carry my toothbrush and tea bags. |
||
ARDcases 2.5mm aluminium panniers that are being custom made for Sir Humphrey & the trip | Airhawk secondary seat to keep my bum in one piece after hours on the bike | ||
Heavy duty sump guard to protect Sir Humphreys more delicate innerds. | SatNav (in combination with a lot of good old fashioned maps) to get there and back again |
